About the Teller
Based in Portland, Oregon, Anne-Louise Sterry is an extraordinary performer and keynote speaker whose joy in singing and storytelling is contagious. Unfailingly positive and encouraging, she brings an energy and commitment to her audiences around the world, whatever their ages, which makes everyone feel she is performing with them rather than at them.
Anne-Louise is a Regional Arts Council, Young Audiences Performer and is on the Arts NW Travel Roster, and is a member of the National Speakers Association. She teaches an intensive storytelling class through the Innovative Northwest Teacher. Anne-Louise has worked with Operation Respect/Don't Laugh at Me, and incorporates their message and material in her workshops and performances to develop respectful and compassionate environments in our workplaces and classrooms.
She has released five CD recordings of stories and songs, many of them written and composed by herself. "Making Ravioli" won the Children's Music Web Award for Best Spoken Word Recording for Older Children.
Anne-Louise's repertoire is extensive and ranges from the sublime to the hilarious and includes many genres. Not to be overlooked is Aunt Lena, Anne-Louise's alter ego. When Aunt Lena comes along with Anne-Louise there's no telling what can happen. Aunt Lena is the creation of Anne-Louise and in the guise of everyone's out of the box Italian Aunt, imparts off-beat wisdom and stories from the New Jersey homeland.
Partner Bob joins Anne-Louise in many performances adding a tenor voice, British humor, mime, and very rare concert level nose flute and kazoo accompaniment.
